Gangtok Diaries: #AttuKiGolu

After 15 years, I was back to Gangtok, capital of Sikkim state in India, this time to be a part of #AttuKiGolu, the wedding celebrations of S & A.

This blog is more about the onward journey and couple of wedding and city shots to familiarize you with the topology of Gangtok and grandeur of Indian Weddings.

To reach Gangtok, for the first time, I took the air route and landed at Bagdogra airport at Siliguri. Hungry, we went straight for breakfast at Makhan Bhog. Tiny but yummy, this breakfast made our tummies happy.

Satiated, we started on our onward 4 hr journey to Gangtok, only to be halted by a huge traffic jams, a rarity in the hills.

Jostling our way through, I finally saw My Alma Mater

A place which gave me friends, career and loads of memories to cherish for life.

It had started drizzling, by the time we reached our destination. The rain drops on the window pane made the evening all the more lazy .

Next day was action packed – It was the Haldi ceremony of the bride to be and the entire hotel was decked up.

If my plan had allowed, I would have posted videos of the electrifying environment and the never ending fun we all had.

In the midst of wedding celebrations, the cousin brigade was able to sneak some “our” time next day early morning for a hot cuppa and plate of kachori on famous M.G road of Gangtok.

This was around 8:30 AM in the morning, long after I woke up to the view below:

Mount Kanchenjunga in its full glory – hit by the early morning golden rays.

There is more on Gantok in upcoming blog. Stay tuned !!
